Comments :-

Like all cities in the world , Vancouver has the usual colorful Chinatown and is located along the Main Street ( northern end ) .

It has been a home for the early Chinese immigrants from 1820 onwards .

Chinatown has a great collections of heritage buildings and tales that unfold the drama and link to the life of the early Chinese settlers .

However , it's greatness has now been diminished by many of the younger generations moving out to the suburbs of Vancouver and also over shadowed by the bustling Richmond City .

The growth and attraction of Chinatown is also affected by presence of many homeless and drug addicts . The situation has somewhat improved and reassuring with the Business Association implementing a private security surveillance of the China town precint .

But sadly most of the shops and restaurants closes very early - unlike most Chinatowns which are opened almost 7/24 ( except 15 Days during the Chinese New Year ) .

Yes , Chinatown is usually one of the great tourist attractions - a place to go for a stroll and enjoy good food and view or buy nice handicrafts etc.

There are some efforts to liven up Chinatown , especially during the summer time , in the hosting of the Night Markets. The other added attraction is the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park and Garden.

Despite the above , extra efforts need to be implemented to make it a bustling place and a great attraction for tourists .

In summary , Chinatown is still a nice place to go shopping for the traditional herbs and food stuff that are essential for Chinese cooking . Yes , there are still a few nice restaurants to go for good Chinese meals.
However t is still a great place to shop for the traditional Chinese Herbs , Medicine , food stuff , vegetables and delicious meat roasts.
